Hello everyone, Thanks for dropping by!
I am Success Oghogho, an Outreachy intern. I am a passionate UI/UX Designer from Nigeria. My interest usually lies in designing digital interfaces, UX writing, and research, and contributing to open source.
I have been accepted as an Outreachy intern from December to March 2024 round. I'm interning for the Oppia Project "Create engaging science lessons" under the guidance of my mentors Adewumi and Aanu. I am looking forward to having a great experience this season.
My core values are:
Excellence: I love excellence. My drive for excellence pushes me to deliver top-notch design solutions. If I'm doing something, I aim to do it exceedingly well.
Discipline: Discipline is the backbone of achievement. Passion is essential, but discipline is what transforms dreams into reality. It's the daily grind that shapes success.
Growth: I strongly believe in continuous personal development across various aspects of life. Growth, whether mental, financial, academic, or spiritual, keeps us relevant in this ever-evolving world.
What's Outreachy???
Outreachy provides three-month internships for people from groups traditionally underrepresented in tech. Interns are paid a stipend. Both interns and mentors work remotely. This program is conducted twice a year. You can get more information about this program here.
How did I apply for it?
Wondering how I found my way to Outreachy? Well, it's thanks to my friend John Osezele, a seasoned software developer. He introduced me to this incredible opportunity, encouraging me to apply. Ever since I came to know about Outreachy, I wanted to participate in it.
Guess what? I initially applied during the May-August 2023 cohort but wasn't selected. I looked for organizations and projects that matched my skills. I selected the Oppia project to contribute to since it also had to do with children. Even though I wasn't selected as an intern the first time. I kept on contributing to Oppia. I saw it as an opportunity to improve myself and also do something that would be beneficial to underprivileged kids. The lesson-fixing team that I joined was welcoming and helpful. I loved the whole team and how everyone helped each other. This was my second time applying and contributing to Oppia. I gave my best this time without thinking about the end results. I submitted my final proposal just a few hours before the deadline.
Finally, on 21st Nov 2023, the results were announced, and Tadaa ๐ I was selected as an intern. I was on top of the moon. I would like to thank the whole community and my mentors Adewumi and Aanu for being so supportive every time.
